Terry's caring, effective and personalized approach provides physical therapy your child needs when and where you need it.
Welcome to Motor Milestones Physical Therapy! I'm Terry Heslin and I provide physical therapy to children from newborn through age 12. I treat children in their home in Westchester County, NY and the Bronx, NY. I accept 5 major health insurance policies. With over 20 years of experience successfully treating kids as a licensed physical therapist, I look forward to working with you and your child!
I specialize in working with children and their families in their home to improve gross motor skills such as balance, muscle tone/strength, flexibility, postural control, motor planning, coordination, ball skills, and playground skills. In the past 2 decades I have treated children with all types of special needs and disabilities such as torticollis, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, autism, developmental delays, Down's syndrome, and other orthopedic, muscular, genetic, and chromosomal disorders. I am also available to work summers and any other times when a therapist may not be available. I accept 5 major health insurance policies: Aetna, CIGNA, Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield, Oxford, and United Healthcare.
No more center-based visits or waiting for a therapist to be assigned to you! Having worked extensively in Early Intervention (EI) I am thrilled to offer my services privately. You can even see me for several visits while you're waiting for a therapist from EI or the Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE).
•THE CARE YOU NEED NOW: No more waiting for a therapist or having your child age out of or be disqualified for services when you know your child needs physical therapy.
•PERSONALIZED IN-HOME TREATMENT: Your child is comfortable at home, it's easier on your schedule and it's usually more effective since I'll show you various exercises and skills to practice between visits.
Are you waiting and waiting for a pediatric physical therapist to be assigned to you through EI or CPSE? Perhaps your child did not qualify for EI/CPSE services or has aged out of services, but physical therapy is still recommended. That's where I come in: I can provide the therapy your child needs when others can't or won't.
People also tend to prefer home-based services which is hard to find in Westchester county through EI/CPSE. And once you see how much your insurance covers you'll appreciate the value I can offer you and your child.
The FREE assessment is an in-person appointment at your home between me, you, and your child. I will assess your child's delays and deficits and tell you all the ways I can improve their motor skills with physical therapy. By meeting with you and your child we can create strategies to further support development and meet motor milestones. You will gain clarity about where your child is at, what to work on and how physical therapy can help. This usually takes about 40 minutes and I'm offering it FREE to all new clients.
I am very comfortable treating children at a preschool or day care as well as at a relative or babysitter's house. I bring my own toys and tools and assess the house and surrounding area for appropriate work surfaces.
I'll work with your schedule before or after work as well.
Call me for a free assessment of your child. I'll also review your health insurance options. I accept 5 major health insurance policies: Aetna, CIGNA, Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield, Oxford, and United Healthcare.
Set an appointment that fits YOUR schedule, at the time and place YOU want it. I'll meet with you and your child and assess their therapy needs.
Know that your child is on the path to fulfill their greatest potential. I take each case seriously and am honest about what we can achieve together. I'm confident that you'll be glad you called me to provide physical therapy.
Originally from the Bronx, I grew up in Yonkers. After graduating from Fordham University I worked for several years in Finance. I knew it was not my path and 2 shoulder surgeries lead me to a gifted physical therapist. With her help I was able to fully recover the use of my shoulder and pursue the sports that I loved. After that, I was inspired to get a degree in physical therapy from SUNY Stony Brook. I started out in geriatrics but quickly moved to pediatrics where I found my niche. After having kids of my own, my love and commitment for my work only deepened. I now live in Briarcliff Manor with my wife, 2 kids, and our cat. I'm a shameless Liverpool soccer fan and love to mountain bike, ski, hike, meditate, do Pilates and read "Where the Wild Things Are" to my children as many times as needed.
Thank you sooo much for helping my daughter Andrea learn how to walk and stand and how to keep her balance. You have been sooo helpful to my family, thank you once again. Now Andrea is taking gymnastics classes. Thank you and god bless!!—Emely G.

Terry is a great physical therapist but at the same time a wonderful individual. A concern for most people will be having someone frequenting their home to give therapy to a child but Terry blends in very well. It feels like family whenever he is around. He is also incredibly bright so you'll find a lot of common ground with him. Just when he vacationed a few weeks ago, we actually missed his presence.
My daughter, on the other hand, has made such significant progress since Terry started seeing her for Physical Therapy. She was born premature and was significantly lagging behind in terms of physical development. Terry shows up and about 5 or 6 sessions in she starts crawling. In about another 2 weeks she can stand and even walk, with help of course.
Terry was definitely God sent. You're doing amazing work and changing the lives of children, and families as a whole. My family and I are grateful to you for your knowledge, expertise, and for helping our dear daughter achieve good progress in such a short time period.—Aissa A.

We couldn’t wait to have you back as her PT and felt confident that Amel had the best PT to help her through her developmental growth.
You blend in everywhere. You are not only interested in the child’s development but also the culture of the family and how they incorporate their beliefs and tradition in raising the child. And that is important to us because you are interested in knowing more about how we interact with our daughter so that you can give her the best therapy she can get.
Thank you again Terry.—Mohammed A.
